Some updates

Good morning, everyone.

A bit of news on our ongoing work here. Mulan (the dog who was dumped by her owner in Ketam after being spayed) has been adopted (Hooray!!) and we will be handing her over to her new owner in a few days’ time after she has completely recovered from her surgery.

Last week, we got two cats (a female and a male) from Bandar Utama spayed and neutered. They have since been returned to the feeder who will continue feeding them in their place of origin (this is CNRM = Care-Neuter-Return-Manage).

We had a call for help from Puchong – to catch a family of dogs (a mother and two puppies) who have a skin disease. Unfortunately, we do not have any expertise in catching dogs. The only way we know is to make friends with them and earn their trust. I have told the feeder to try to catch them and we will sponsor the treatment of their skin problem. If anyone would like to help us catch the dogs, please volunteer!

We also have a call for help from Kota Tinggi. A pregnant cat needs fostering while the feeder is away for a trip. Unfortunately, we have no volunteer over there, so I’m afraid we cannot help except to offer some suggestions.

We will also be supporting the work of Aunty Kiew, a feeder from somewhere in Old Klang Road. She is unemployed and she feeds 40 stray dogs and 15 stray cats every day, in three different locations (will write more about her later). We’ll be helping her in the spaying and neutering of her cats. She too says it is very difficult to catch the dogs.

Meanwhile, we are pleased to announce that two vets from Kota Kemuning have joined our AnimalCare panel. They will cover the Kota Kemuning/Bukit Rimau neighbourhood and I’ll be introducing our CNRM programme there this Sunday.

We have also been invited to participate in the No Plastic Bag Event on 31st August, down in Noble Banquet in Jalan Bukit Bintang. This is an event organised by the Recyclists, a group committed to greening the environment and caring for animals. We will be distributing my (free) books (the latest one – Indy Jones & the 4 Pillars of Kindness), selling cookies, drinks and some other donated merchandise to raise funds for AnimalCare. Please do come and support us, if you are free. The event will be from 12noon – 6pm. More information later.

There is much work to be done, and we need committed volunteers. If you can spare the time, and would like to volunteer, please write to me at chankahyein@gmail.com For more information on how you can help, please view here.

Let’s work together for the animals.

Have a wonderful day!
