Rey’s possible sensitivity to Malaseb shampoo

Ever since Rey came back home with a balding problems, the vet had prescribed a Malaseb shampoo bath every 5 days. Initially it seemed to be helping but lately, especially after the latest Malaseb bath, Rey seemed to be balding even more.

The spot where I had applied the Advocate spot-on is also bald.

In any case, I have consulted the vet and she said Rey might have a sensitivity to the ingredients in the Malaseb shampoo. It isn’t common, but it is possible. So she advised me to stop the Malaseb baths for now and just monitor Rey’s condition.

There is no redness or itch observed, though, which is good.

Malaseb shampoo is a medicated shampoo for the treatment of skin infection caused by bacteria and fungus, but also tends to have a drying effect. It contains chlorhexidine gluconate.
