Homemade catfood for Bunny & Indy

Bunny and Indy do not agree with raw food anymore nowadays. Indy has his gastro-intestinal problems while Bunny has chosen not to eat raw.

While raw food has natural enzymes to aid digestion, cooking also breaks down the proteins making it easier to be digested. I remember the advice of a holistic vet a long time ago. While she definitely agrees that raw food is the most biologically appropriate food for cats, she did accept the fact that it may not be suitable for every single cat. A case in point is Bunny and Indy who used to devour raw food. Now, with age, they just cannot anymore.

So, here’s today’s homemade catfood, tailored for Bunny (constipation, chronic kidney disease):

Thanks to the pressure cooker, it only took 10 minutes (cooked and tender as with a slow cooker). Today’s recipe is chicken with vegetables. The vegetables is for the fiber because Bunny needs it. There is no salt and bone. No salt because Cleo and Bunny have chronic kidney disease. No bone because it’s cooked, so add eggshell powder instead.

Once it is ready, Ginger is already waiting.

All the super seniors have had lunch, but who can resist the aroma of freshly cooked food?

Our super seniors are Cow & Bunny (both 16yo), Cleo (15yo) and Indy (14yo).

The seniors are Tabs and Ginger (both 11yo) while the juniors (young ‘uns) are Minnie (3yo), Smurfy, Rey, Lynx and Robin (all 2yo).

Cow Mau, would you like some too?

Only Indy said “no thanks, I’ll pass”.

So happy to see Bunny eating! This is his fourth helping, so he’s slowing down.
