We’ve decided to rename the kittens, especially Tora. Even though I know it means “tiger” in Japanese, every time I say it, it just reminds of the WW2 movie, “Tora, Tora, Tora” which was all about the war. So, no, it has to be changed.
We are changing it to “Indra”, a Sanskrit name associated with the ancient Vedic deity of sky, lightning and rain. A big, big name. “Indra” is gender neutral.
As for Akila, it’s been changed to “Akira” which now means “bright, clear and ideal” and is gender neutral. “Akila” kind of sounded like Atilla the Hun, a feared warload, so no.
Kai will remain as “Kai”!
So, here’s Kai, Akira and Indra. And Indra is catching up!
From left: Kai, Indra and Akira.
Akira is turning out to be a calico. The grey blotches now looks lighter, going toward orange.
This is Kai.
See the “M” on his forehead? This makes Kai a “ginger tabby”.
