Hiro is still not eating as much as the Princesses. He needs to eat more and I haven’t figured out how to do it yet.
But Hiro is becoming rather choosy over his food now. I thought of giving him some canned food for variety and now he wants canned fish! I guess commercial canned food is always more tasty than home-based raw food.
The vet said kibble would help him increase weight much faster than other types of foods. Well, I’m guessing that this could be due to the kibble’s content of carbohydrates. When I first rescued Cow, Bunny and Pole, way back in 2006 and being my very first rescues, I did not know anything about pet nutrition so I just bought them kibble to eat. Cow and Bunny became very obese, with bulging tummies that almost touched the ground. I’m not exaggerating here.
Compare that with the Monsters and now, the Princesses who were brought up on a 100% raw diet. They are rock solid, like iron. Definitely not obese or flabby. As my friend had said, dogs and cats on a raw diet will not be obese, just let them eat as much as they want.
But Hiro…he isn’t eating enough. And he is due for another deworming this weekend. The vet said he must put on more weight.
I’ll figure something out for him.
Meanwhile, there is another reason why Hiro must grow bigger quickly too.
It’s Jayden.
Jayden is now so strong (he might even be stronger than Ryan, but make no mistake, both boys are also rock solid like iron, just that Jayden is of a bigger frame). He still cannot control his strength so I’m really afraid he might accidentally injure Hiro.
So far, Hiro has been very skillfully avoiding Jayden’s “blows”.
Run, Hiro, run….Godzilla-J is coming!!
I cannot weigh Hiro because he cannot stay still enough on the kitchen weighing scale to get a reading. So I’ll have to wait for the next check-up.
But even though he eats little, he is super active, buzzing around the house and bounding around like a rabbit!
